Does Premier Internists accept my insurance plan?
Premier Internists works with various insurance plans, including HMOs, PPOs, Medicare, and more. It’s important to confirm with your insurance provider if our physicians are included in your policy, or you can call our office to check if we participate with your insurance plan.
Please bring your insurance card and a valid photo ID to every appointment for verification. If you don’t have insurance coverage, payment will be required at the time of service. Since insurance benefits differ by plan, contact your insurance carrier or employer for details about your specific policy.
Do I need to have a primary care physician (PCP)?
We highly recommend choosing a primary care physician for optimal, coordinated care. Our providers play a key role in managing your health and working with specialists when needed.
Some insurance plans may require you to designate a PCP. Check with your insurance carrier for more information, as their contact number is usually located on the back of your insurance card.
How do I schedule an appointment at Premier Internists?
Call us at (248) 355-0880, and our team will assist you in booking the earliest available appointment. If your preferred provider isn’t available, we’ll provide alternative options.
If you’re unable to keep an appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance. Frequent no-shows may affect your care and the availability of appointments for others.
How can I get a referral to a specialist?
Your primary care physician will manage your care and provide referrals to specialists when necessary. Since referral requirements differ by insurance plans, please check with your provider for specific referral procedures.
What should I do in an emergency?
If you’re experiencing a life-threatening emergency, dial 911 immediately
When are co-pays due, and what do I need to know about benefits?
Co-pays must be paid at the time of your appointment, as required by your insurance plan. A co-pay is a set amount determined by your policy for certain services. Check your insurance benefit summary for the co-pay amounts that apply to your visits.
How can I transfer or retrieve my medical records?
If you haven’t arranged for your medical records to be sent to Premier Internists, we can request them on your behalf. To ensure confidentiality, a signed and dated Medical Records Release (HIPAA) form is required to release your records, including diagnostic tests and immunizations.
If you’re moving, we can forward your records to your new doctor upon request. This process may take up to 30 days. Records sent to another physician are free of charge, but fees may apply for personal, legal, or insurance use.
What should I do if I feel sick after hours?
Depending on the severity of your symptoms, you can:
- Call our after-hours medical care: 248-691-8699
- Visit an emergency room for urgent care
- Book an appointment with your primary care provider the following business day
